Edgeworthstown – winner case study
Edgeworthstown was crowned the Medium Town winner of our .IE Digital Town Awards 2021. Check out their inspiring story and hear about the positive impact digital has had in their community.
Edgeworthstown is an example to other towns in Ireland of what can be achieved digitally.
Using digital to transform a town
Edgeworthstown has been identified as the town in Ireland with the highest risk of losing jobs due to increased automation. Addressing this, Co:Worx, a community organisation and digital working hub was created, which is hoped to be a transformative, sustainable initiative enabling the growth of the region’s economy.
The hub opened in March 2022, based in the former Ulster Bank, it includes remote working, fostering collaboration and reskilling projects including digital literacy, English language classes, and SME adoption of digital.
.IE Digital Town Awards
The team at Co:Worx explains that the .IE Digital Town Awards was a great opportunity to showcase the work that they have been doing around digital technologies. The prize fund will be used to expand facilities in the hub and to expand their digital reach into the community.
