1.6% increase in new .ie registrations (H1 2021 v H1 2020) -4.2% Net growth (registrations - deletions) (H1 2021 v H1 2020) Analysis of .ie domain database and growth Strong growth of new registrations continues in 2021. There were 324,074 .ie domains in the database at the end of H1 2021 (30 June), a 9.6% increase on the same period last year. The database has grown 49% on the same period five years ago (H1 2016). New .ie domain registrations increased by almost 34% year-on-year in Q1 2021, which approximates to the post-Christmas lockdown period, but decreased by 22% year-on-year in Q2 2021 , which broadly corresponds with the partial or full re-opening of physical business premises. Despite the drop-off in Q2 2021 relative to Q2 2020 (last year’s ‘peak lockdown’), new .ie domain registrations remain high. In terms of new .ie domain registrations, H1 2021 was the best-performing first half-year period on record, with 33,815 new .ie registrations, up 1.6% year-on-year.
